CompassA compass indicates in which direction is the MAGNETIC NORTH. The Magnetic North is different from the geographic North (The North Pole). Good maps will tell you the difference between TRUE NORTH and MAGNETIC NORTH for the region of the map. The North South Lines on the maps always point to TRUE NORTH.
